For quite some time now I have always wondered using LED Bulbs are really more efficient compared to CFL Bulbs. LED's are a common find in the use of electronic gadgets and equipments as they normally require low voltage requirements and dissipate less heat. The rising cost of electrical bills is causing a strain in managing your monthly budget. It makes you wonder if you are really getting your money's work for all the money you are paying for monthly bills.
Rather than dealing with the technical specs. of the LED Bulbs that are currently available in the market, I decided to conduct a little experiment and used various brands for comparison and here are some items that I've found:
1. Price of LED Bulbs depends on the various factors below:
a. Brand Name
b. Warranty, ranges from 1 yr. to 5 yrs. ( The longer the warranty the greater the price)
c. Number of Watts (The greater the Number of Watts, the greater the price).
d. Energy Savings (The greater the percentage, the greater the price)
e. Number of Lumen's (The greater the Number of Lumen's, the greater the price)
f. Angle in which the light is projected (The greater the angle, the greater the price)
Incidentally price of LED Bulbs range from Php 100++ - Php 1000++. So before deciding on the brand to buy, I suggest you carefully read the box for the below items to get a clearer picture of what you are buying.
2. Read the box carefully as most LED Bulbs compare their performance with Incandescent bulbs and not CFL Bulbs.
3. As you may notice LED Bulbs do project extremely bright lights and prolonged use does need quite some time getting used to.
4. They dissipate less heat which is very useful during hot seasons.
We currently live in a 2 storey house and usually average Php 3000++ on electricity bills per month. Currently We are using 5 Watt LED Bulbs (5 pcs.) in all the rooms in the 2nd floor and 1 outside in our garage. For the past 2 months, We are currently averaging Php 2500++ in electricity bills. Not bad I do say so myself, as We could definitely use the extra savings for other important matters.
However, replacing all your existing CFL Bulbs is definitely more expensive as 1 LED Bulb normally costs 3X the price of a single CFL Bulb. So I would suggest you replace your bulbs 1 pc. at a time. Vary also the Number of Watts you are going to use with size of the room to maximize efficiency.
